Our Story
Bad Cat Knit Goods started with a simple question: what if we built something of our own?
We took over this shop — formerly Knitting Off Broadway — in June 2026, and we're genuinely grateful to Natalie Bell for building a real knitting community here first. We're not trying to replace what she built. We're building on top of it.
Gary handles the brand, the design, the parts of this business most shops never think to sweat over. Rachael's the knitter — the real one, the one who's taught teenagers to cast on and can talk you through a stubborn cable pattern without blinking. Together we're turning a beloved Fort Wayne yarn shop into something with a little more attitude and a lot more soul.
We believe in natural fibers, not synthetic shortcuts. Slow-made, not fast fashion. A shop that feels like your favorite grandmother's living room — vintage lamps, worn-in furniture, a cat probably judging you from somewhere — but never precious about it. We're not a cozy-cottage brand. We're the shop that'll hand you a warm blanket and tell you exactly what you did wrong on that gauge swatch.
Located at 1309 Broadway in Fort Wayne, we're natural fibers only — wool, alpaca, cotton, silk, the real stuff — sourced from vendors we trust, including a hard-to-get Spincycle Yarns account most shops can't access. Whether you've been knitting for forty years or you picked up a hook for the first time last week, you're welcome here. We mean that. Beginners aren't a burden — they're the whole point.
We're just getting started. This page will grow alongside us — more of the building's history, more photos, more of the real story behind why we did this. For now: come see us, bring a project, and let's make something good together.
