Manos del Uruguay is a non-profit collective of artisans in rural Uruguay, and every skein is hand-spun and hand-dyed by them — which means real, unrepeatable color variation from one skein to the next, not a flaw to work around but the whole point of buying handmade. Alpaca Heather is a sturdy 70% wool, 30% alpaca blend, richly heathered because the dyers overdye naturally-colored alpaca rather than starting from white — a small technical choice that gives the color real depth instead of a flat, uniform tint. Soft, warm, and substantial enough for garments and accessories that need to hold their shape and last.
